Swimming!

This past week I've taken Caisen swimming a few times and he loves the pool! Stephen was able to come with us one day and it was so fun. Here are pictures and a video of Caisen in the pool, and of him falling asleep in the pool. What a lazy guy. Oh, and he wasn't sleeping without his hat either, Audrey and I just took it off to take a picture of him. And he was in the shade the whole time.

Caisen's room!

I was looking at pictures of our house before we did anything to it, and what in the world were we thinking?! Thankfully we both have an eye for change...and not just the way things are. Anyway, here is a picture of Caisen's room before we moved in!
I know ,it's horrible right! Anyway, so that room was supposed to be our office and I painted it a nice sky blue and was planning on doing fat brown and thin cream stripes on the walls...until we found out we were pregnant. And that wasn't planned. So, we waited till we knew the gender of our baby and when we found out it was a boy we decided we were just going to leave it blue. Well, here's what his "blue" room turned out to be.

His crib is my favorite part of his room. We got his bedding on clearance at Pottery Barn Kids, and it just so happened to be their Surf line. What a steal! Oh, and actually my mother in law made his crib skirt. Cute huh!

This is my silhouette.

This is Stephen's silhouette. We took pictures, printed them on an 8x10 sheet of paper, copied it to transparency paper and used an overhead projetor to trace us on the walls. I think they turned out so cool!

This mural is actually made up of 3 places in Hawaii. The beach is on the west coast and the little island and mountain range is on the northeast coast. Sister Nagel in our ward helped us paint the mural and we did the rest.

I love that his room will be something that he can grow into. It's a backyard beach theme and when we were painting his room, we literally only had to buy 1 quart of blue for the ocean. Every other color in his room we had...or we made by mixing black, white and grey to other colors to get different shades of those colors. Stephen says that his room will last him till he's old enough to decide for himself if he wants to change it, and if he does, well then he'll be old enough to do it himself. What a great dad:)lol. I mainly just wanted a room that wasn't too babyish for a boy...like little ducky's everywhere. I wanted a somewhat big boy room that was still whimsical and childish if that makes sense. Anyway, who would've thunk that the old jungle yellow room would be this adorable!

Hawaii!

WE'RE GOING HOME!
Yesterday I just booked our flights to go home in 2 and a half weeks! I can't wait. This will be Caisen's 3rd time to Hawaii and he's not even 8 months! Stephen and I have so much planned. We will definitely be posting while we're there...just to rub it in your face:) Just kidding.
Here are some pictures of what I call home. Enjoy!

My table!

So I must say that I am pretty talented! Yesterday I went out and bought wood while Stephen was working and I built us a dining table in 3 and half hours...with lots of help from my brother Kamu and his father in law. This table is pretty bad ***....seriously! I am so proud of my work. When Stephen came home he was talking on the phone with Scott Larsen and he saw that our old dining table was taken apart and he immdiately said to Scott, "holy crap, my wife just bought a dining table!" Well when he got upstairs he saw what I had built and he was so impressed. He LOVES me:)

Well, here it is. I still have to trim the legs down a couple inches, wood puddy it, sand it and paint it black...but as far as the building goes...it's DONE!

Shooting with 3 MEAN guys!

For quite a while I have been thinking a lot, well more like worrying a lot about Caisen and my safety since we are home alone for most of the day. I had been bugging Stephen about getting me a gun so that I can feel a lot safer when I am alone with Caisen and he told me that he wouldn't buy me one until I went to a shooting range and shot several different guns and became comfortable with shooting. Well this past weekend we went up to my in laws land to shoot. The Bishops and Smalts came with us and between the 2 of those guys I was able to shoot 5 different guns, or bullets, or whatever...its probably both actually. My first round with the Bishops 9mm hand gun went extremely well. I hit my target 10 out of 13 times and had 3 close to the bulls eye. I shot the Smalts handgun and did really well with that too. I felt pretty comfortable by the end of shooting with both handguns. Oh, and I also shot their rifle and I hit my honey dew melon and shattered that thing to freakin peices...on my first try! There was stuff splatting everywhere! Not too bad for a hawaiian girl eh? Now, here's the real reason I'm posting...Stephen told me that I was going to shoot every gun to learn about them and to have respect for them. I was cool with that. I shot the Bishops shot gun and my very first shot I hit a life size Hilti poster guy right on his nose! (Yeah, you don't want to mess with me) After a few shots with the shot gun my shoulder was pretty sore. Well, right when I call it quits with that gun, Greg decides that I need to shoot a turkey bullet, but doesn't tell me what it is. Meanwhile Stevo tells me that it's really fun to shoot and my husband doesn't say anything. So I cocked the gun, slowly started to pull on the trigger, and BAM!!!, it literally felt like my shoulder was on the ground behind me. I put the gun down and punched Greg with a quickness. All 3 of those mean guys were laughing at me and now I have freakin bruises on my shoulder because of it. I won't be able to carry Caisen for days now. Thanks jerks.

Pomai the Builder!! We can do it!

So, for a while I had been wanting a bar height dining table that seats 6...or a new dining set period. I've been looking around for a new dining set and any one that I wanted was over $1000. Well, since I could never justify spending that kind of money with a 7 month old and more kids in the future...I've been researching on how to build my own dining table. And being that Stephen owns 1/3 of a rental property company, we have access to pretty much any and every tool I could need to build anything.

This past February I built our nightstands from scratch and I suprised Stephen with them. They are actually mounted on the wall and are "floating" nightstands, so they don't touch the floor. Here's what they look like. And I know, I know, you love them! I'm soo good!

Anyway, so last week I saw an ad for these nice bar height chairs that were originally $100 each, but on clearance for $25 each. I called my mother in law a few days later (I waited to make sure this wasn't an impulse buy) and asked her if I could borrow her truck to go buy these chairs. Well when I was on the phone with her, a commercial came on TV and was advertising these exact chairs and said that TODAY ONLY they were $20 each. So I literally rushed off to go get them. While I was there another woman was looking at these exact same chairs and she had tried on several different patio cushions for these chairs...and I fell in love with the one in these pictures. I ended up buying those at 50% off each! What a steal!

Anyway, this past Friday we went to Home Depot (which is probably in my top 3 for favorite stores) to get wood to finish building our retaining wall...and I found everything I needed to build my bar height dining table. It is literally only going to cost me $100 at most. I am so stoked!!! I will post before and after pics of my final product!!!

YAY for Running!

My friend Kayla invited me to go running with her and her friend Stephanie last night...and I went, reluctantly at first. Stephen and I went and he ran with Caisen in the jogging stroller and I ran with my girlfriends. We went to this really nice park by our house and it has 2 walking paths/tracks. The outter track is 1 mile and the inner track is 1/2 a mile.

So, this was my very first time running in over a 1 1/2 years because I was pregnant for 9 months, Caisen is almost 7 months and before I got pregnant it was winter, which I don't do! I can't even remember the last time I went running...sad ya. Before I was pregnant and all that, I had no problem running over 2 miles in 20 mins. So needless to say, being that last night was my first time running in an eternity, I have to brag and say I ran a 9 minute mile, which to some may seem like a long time, but that is pretty fantastic for me. Plus there are some mild hills too. I even got to try out my brand new running shoes, which I love. Ooh, and even better, I was able to record my route, my heart rate, my time, calories burned and my elevation climb/descent with Stephen's super cool new training watch. Which, btw, is gigantic on our wrists. I swear my left arm is now stronger from running with it:) But it's a super cool gadget. You have to wear this strap around your chest so that it can monitor your heart rate and all that. After your workout you can upload your information to the program on your computer and your route can be exported to google earth. It is so precise that it even shows when you which side of the road you run on, or when you are passing people and are running around them it shows that on the maps. It also allows saves your runs, hikes, whatever and allows you to train against yourself and try to beat your previous time. It's pretty dang bad! I'll have to have him blog about it.

Anyway, Caisen was such a good boy. He loves to be outdoors and see the trees and the other runners and dogs and most of all feel the wind on his face. He even fell asleep in the jogging stroller on one of the laps with Stephen. He is too cute. Eventually we'll be able to get our own double jogging stroller for when baby #2 comes and it'll be able to convert into a trailer too. This is the exact one I would love to have and would love even more it I didn't have to pay a $500 price tag for it. Pretty sweet huh!

Well, I am glad that I now have others who help motivate me to do something I have wanted to do for a while, get back in shape. Maybe someday I will be able to do at least a 1/2 marathon and be able to run all 13 miles of it.

Here are pics of us at the park on a beautiful evening!
